Pastor Bob Ona has served churches in the Midwest and California as a staff pastor, senior associate, and senior pastor. His wife, Sharon, has been a great co-worker throughout their marriage. The Onas began ministry at First Assembly in December of 2006.

Pastor Bob was raised in Minnesota and received a call into ministry at Bible Camp when he was nine years old. During high school, he was highly involved in student ministry. His first year in college was spent at his grandfather’s alma mater, Gustavus Adolophus College. After that, his military draft number was called (student deferments had been rescinded), and he spent three years working in the military chapel system.

While attending North Central University with his wife, Sharon, he served as an assistant pastor. Upon graduation, the Onas became senior pastors in Northfield, Minnesota, which was followed by a senior pastorate in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Subsequently, they served in Brookfield, Wisconsin, and prior to moving to Fargo, in Modesto, California.

Pastor Bob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and pastoral studies, an MBA in church administration, and has an earned doctorate from Oxford Graduate School, where he conducted social research involving Christian conversion experiences. He continues to engage in sociological research regarding the spiritual vitality of Christians.

Pastor Bob is a charismatic believer who values God’s presence in worship services and gives frequent altar calls. He encourages people to walk in their God-given destinies and is constantly looking for ways to reach people with the Gospel in our region and around the world.
